East Newton Elementary School
History

1954 School was opened with Mr. R.L. Clements serving as principal.  The school served grades one through eight.
1970 Mr. Hassell E. McGee served as principal.
1971 Mr. Manning Trip served as principal.
1972 Dr. Thord Marshall was appointed principal.  Enrollment consisted of students in grades one through five.
1975 Mr. Lowell Biddy assumed the role of principal.
1979 Dr. J.H. Davis served as principal.  A full-time kindergarten program was implemented.
1986 Ms. Trina Russell was appointed principal.  The position of Instructional Lead Teacher was created and filled by Mrs. Jean Anne Marra.  A major renovation project was completed that added a new media center, office suite, art room, music room, gymnasium, and eleven classrooms.  These renovations were added to the existing facility.
1990 Mrs. Jean Anne Marra was appointed principal.
1993 A new wing including 6 classrooms was added.
1997 Mrs. Patricia Miller was appointed principal.  Another wing including six classrooms, a computer lab and a music room was added.
2002 Mrs. Brenda Stanton was appointed principal.
2005 Mrs. Naomi Cobb was appointed principal.
2009 Dr. Kim Coady was appointed principal.



East Newton is a member of the Newton County School System in Newton County, Georgia
