Welcome to Porterdale Elementary, where children count and teachers care! We have a well qualified

administrative and teaching staff who bring a wealth of experience to our school and to our students.

Our staff is concerned with educating the total child, academically, physically, emotionally and socially.

Lizzella Dodson, principal, has over twenty years of experience in education. She has taught both regular

and special education classes. Her administrative experience includes serving as assistant principal at both

the elementary and secondary levels, curriculum and special education director, principal of an elementary

and primary school, as well as a principal of an alternative school.

Ms. Dodson believes that all children can learn. She believes that parents are their children's first teacher and that parents

are partners in learning and should be involved in the educational process of students. Ms. Dodson believes in setting high

expectations for both staff and students. According to Ms. Dodson, "Many times you get what you expect." At Porterdale

Elementary, we expect the best. We are constantly striving for excellence.
